How to Measure Your Hand for Goalkeeper Gloves

Match your hand measurements to the chart for the specific glove model. Follow practical steps for hand width, circumference, length and fit checks.

How to Measure Your Hand for Goalkeeper Gloves

The same goalkeeper glove size does not guarantee the same fit across brands and cuts. Buying by age or your previous glove size without measuring can leave excess space or put strain on the seams. Start with the current size chart for the model you intend to buy.

Quick answer

Check whether the model's chart asks for hand width, palm circumference or hand length. Take that measurement on both hands and match the results to the chart. Age alone is not a glove measurement.

Width, circumference and length are different measurements

  • Hand width: measure straight across the widest part of the palm, excluding the thumb.
  • Palm circumference: wrap a flexible tape around the palm, excluding the thumb, without compressing the skin.
  • Hand length: use the start and end points shown in the brand's diagram. Do not apply a wrist-to-fingertip measurement to a width-based chart.

Measure and compare, step by step

  1. Find the size chart and measurement diagram for the model you want. Ask the seller if these are missing.
  2. Measure both hands in a natural position. Note the measurement type and unit.
  3. Compare your results with that product's own chart. If your hands differ or you fall between sizes, give the support team both results.
  4. Also share the glove cut, such as negative or hybrid. A cut name alone is not a rule to go up or down a size.
  5. Try the gloves on with clean hands before using them. Read the return and exchange conditions beforehand.

What to check when trying them on

Open and close your fingers, move your thumb and gently grip a soft ball. Reassess the size and shape if the palm folds noticeably, your fingers curl, the seams stretch excessively or the glove slips at the wrist. There is no universal fingertip clearance measurement for every model.

Is an age chart enough for children?

Children of the same age can have different hand measurements. Buying gloves much too large so a child can grow into them may make gripping the ball harder. Measuring the hand, checking the model's chart and making sure the child can close their hand comfortably are more useful checks.

What if you are between sizes?

Instead of adding half a size at random, share your measurements and preferred fit with the seller. Do not buy a tight size on the assumption that the gloves will definitely stretch during use. If a KXSPOR model has no measurement chart available, do not present another brand's chart as a KXSPOR chart.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose the size by age?

Age alone is not enough. You need hand measurements and the model's size chart.

Will I wear the same size in every brand?

Not necessarily. The cut, shape and measurement method can differ between models.
